The school year has begun with eighty students on Sunday, plus 29 aides. We heartily welcomed 15 new students this year, and are thrilled to have the largest-ever contingent of teacher aides who are high school seniors. Our little shul is a bustling, growing community, and though we’re bursting at the seams on Sunday mornings, everyone’s creativity, compromise, and patience make our tight space cozy and workable. Parents are expected to participate in their children’s religious education, and part of that obligation comes in the form of volunteering to help the school run smoothly and safely. As I reiterated on Opening Day, having an adult at the door when school is in session is essential, and each of you should plan to volunteer at least several times during the year. When you enter the building, please sign up for a couple of Sundays, Mondays, or Wednesdays when your child is scheduled for class. You’ll get a call or email to remind you, and you can also check the schedule below. October begins with Yom Kippur and preparations for Sukkot. Please join us for one of students’ and parents’ favorite events, decorating the Sukkah and a community pot-luck dinner on Friday, October 6 at 5:00pm. On Friday, October 13, we formally welcome and consecrate our new students on the Bimah as we worship together on Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah – whether you’re the family of a new or returning student, our celebration will be more joyous with you there! Wishing you a Shanah Tovah – a year ahead that is sweetened by peace, good health, meaningful learning, and the shared strengths and joys of our vibrant, caring community. B’Shalom, Alice

p.s.: Door monitors are needed!  Look on the sign-up sheet in the lobby, and please...please…sign up for a shift or two.  Thank you.
