CONcord Temple Youth (CONTY)

Concord Temple Youth CONTY is the TBJ chapter of the North American Federation of Temple Youth – Northeast (NFTY-NE). NFTY-NE brings together Reform Jewish teens from upstate New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Montreal for learning, fun, worship, community service, and fellowship, building lifelong ties with each other and Reform Judaism. Although NFTY-NE includes teens in grades 9 – 12, Concord’s Temple Youth group is open to teens in grade 8 as well.

During the school year, CONTY teens participate in many regional and local events. Annual local events include leading a CONTY Creative Shabbat and High Holy Day Youth Services, a Chanukah ShulIn,” and a “Kidnap,” in the fall welcoming the eighth graders. The year concludes with an overnight beach or camping trip. Social action activities and fund-raisers, such as pie sales, soup sales, or whatever members’ imaginations dream up, are planned at monthly meetings. Several current and former members have traveled to Israel and share their experiences with the group, inspiring others to plan Israel trips also.

CONTY provides a wonderful outlet for friendships nurtured over the years to continue to flourish, even after the glow of the B’nei Mitzvah has subsided. CONTY teens are known for their exuberant natures and are often spotted wearing their awesome “Wicked Cool” sweatshirts, in Hebrew of course! CONTY channels all that teen energy into making the world a better place! For more information contact conty@tbjconcord.org.
